This weekend, at the 11th annual
Toronto International Circus Festival (from May 18th-20th at the Harbourfront Centre), MakerKids will be helping kids to do 3D printing of circus creatures! Kids will design fantastical animals and characters they’d like to see in a circus using the 123D Creature app on iPads, and the crowd’s favourite designs will be 3D printed for those participants to bring home.
Each participant will get their creature emailed to them as an image. Anyone can also drop by our shop later to get their creature 3D printed.
The whole event is free, and there are lots of other activities planned. It's going to be a lot of fun, and a great way for kids (and parents) to get their feet wet with 3D printing. Anyone in Toronto this weekend should come on by!
We ran a similar creature design and 3D printing activity as a part of the NASA Youth Space Challenge that we coordinated at the ROM a few weeks ago and it was a big success! It's really exciting to design a 3D object yourself and then print it out on the spot.
