Kids Learning and Play Programs

Play is a cornerstone of the MakerKids programs. Play fosters cognitive development, working memory, social development, abstract thinking and practical skills. We encourage kids to be playful, explore materials, tools and ideas, to be imaginative and to create. We want them to carry this through the teen years and into adulthood - This need is recognized by modern organizations with adult "play areas", such as Google, Apple, Microsoft and Toronto's Corus Entertainment (with it's several stories high slide, etc.).
For example, at the Toronto mini - MakerFaire, Kids at the MakerKids tables deconstructed toys, then build crazy new toys. At the MakerKids Robot Challenge area, many children built Imaginative remote controlled robots.
Learning through play, learning by making.
